Ditch Your Laptop, Dump Your Boyfriend, Live in the Moment

Dear Incoming Freshmen,

Here’s the deal, high school is great. It really is!! Don’t let people tell you anything different! High school is like life, and life’s what you make it, so let’s make it rock. ;) When you go through four years at the same school, you realize that you have to make the most out of your time. You don’t want to be the person that just floats through classes and doesn’t do extra activities. Getting involved was one of the best things I ever did.
Whether it was joining a club or doing stats for the volleyball team, I had so much fun throughout my four years, so far!!! But I always wanted more, which is why I want you to consider joining a sport!! Only one thing keeps me from truly enjoying my high school experience. I wish I would have joined a sport. Softball is the name of the game. Ever since I was around 9, I dedicated myself to supporting the Los Angeles Dodgers, which would fuel my love of softball. I was never really athletic, so I never told my parents that I wanted to play, but I always had the desire. I just wanted to experience what the Dodgers did. I never joined softball, but I will always wish I did.
I just want to say, that if you have an inkling towards something, follow your heart!! It may pay off in the end, or maybe you will just enjoy the experiences you make. I hope you learn to try new things because it can never hurt. Live in the moment, because having regrets is not the business. Good luck, you’ll conquer high school.

Sincerely,
A Girl With One Regret.

Goals and Legacy

Legacy:
"Before I go, I want to bring school spirit back. Before I go, I want to inspire underclassmen. Before I go, I want to spread compassion and kindness. Before I go, I want to re-define the term, respect. Before I go, I want to leave knowing I've made a positive impact."

Goals:

1. Become more responsible with my time.
2. Finish with the best grades I've ever had.
3. Get my license.
4. Lose weight and keep it that way.
5. Become a better person in every possible way.

The Road So Far

*cue Carry On My Wayward Son song*

Legacy:
SO poetic. SO emotional. I loved this legacy when we created it. I still love it, but it is becoming less attainable. So far, school spirit is still lacking... underclassmen don't listen to "higher ups," making themselves look bad... compassion and kindness could be spread, but when you lack enthusiasm at school, nothing is spread except your lack of enthusiasm... redefining respect is hard, when people don't even respect themselves or the people around them... we could leave a positive impact by being the best that we can be, but who knows if the underclassmen will see us as "role models." I'm not sure if I see progress yet, with our legacy, but there's always tomorrow. Like I mentioned earlier, I still love the concepts and ideas behind our legacy, but we never truly know what is going to happen.

Goals:
1. Have I become more responsible with my time? Aha hahaha sure.
2. We haven't finished school yet, however, I was pretty happy with my first semester grades. :))) We're still in the third week of our second semester, so there is always room for improvement this semester. They probably won't be THE BEST GRADES I'VE EVER HAD, but I will settle for all A's and one B.
3. I haven't gotten my license, BUT I DID GET MY PERMIT, WHICH IS COOL if my mother would let me practice driving more often. Haha!!
4. I feel like this goal was too personal lol, but I have been going to the gym on the weekends which is nice because who goes to the gym on weekends??? Apparently, not a lot of people and I love it!!
5. Becoming a better person in every possible way is hard, now that I'm reflecting. I don't even think that I've progressed on this because I'm not a bad person in general... I could use some help on my time management skills, though. The balance between health, academics, and life is hard to maintain. No one person is perfect in any way, and we'll never be, but we can always improve some aspects, like health-wise and education-wise. I'm trying.

Oh, the Places You'll Go!

This is the story all about how my life got flip-turned upside down... lolll

Fresh out of the money-making machine, I am clean, I am fresh, I'm the dollar you like the best!!! Today will be a good day. I start my journey into the world by first being packaged into an envelope and sent in an armored truck, to the nearest bank. I settle next to my brothers and sisters and prepare to be put into circulation. I am warm and comfortable. I'm tired and I begin to fall asleep. I dreamt of the places I'd go. I could travel to a casino, end up at a theme park, and maybe even in the pocket of a child. I wake up and it is Tuesday. I am brought out of my envelope and I know it is time to go. I dig my way past my brothers and sisters, to see the world around us. It's not the world; we're in a vault. Hours pass and finally our time has come; the banker has brought us out of the vault and into the deposit and withdrawal area. I hear a woman say that she needs to withdraw $150 dollars; five of those, in ones. The excitement increased since I was at the top of the stack. The banker picks me up and I am placed into Diane's hands. The journey begins. I heard Diane say, "Oh, I know what I am going to do with all this cash!!" First things first, we stop at a Starbucks and I am passed from Diane's pocket into the worker's register. I am partly worth a venti Vanilla Bean
frappuccino with extra caramel.

From the cashier's register, I am given as change for a $10 bill. Franklin takes me home and places me under his son's pillow, since he has lost a tooth. I sleep for the night and wonder where Billy will take me in the morning. It is Wednesday now and Billy finds me under his pillow as he wakes up. There is so much joy on his face that it makes me happy and warm. Although it is a cool day, Billy and his father, Franklin, end up at the ice cream parlor. Since Billy was so excited to pay for his ice cream with his own money, the ice cream man decides that he will give Billy his ice cream, "on the house." Billy and Franklin sit down to finish each of their favorite ice cream. I sit in Billy's pocket, in wonder at the ice cream man's generosity. Billy and Franklin finish their ice cream and we are on the move again. Outside of the ice cream parlor, I hear Billy ask Franklin if he can give his dollar to the man sitting and sleeping on floor. I don't see the man yet, but I know that he may be homeless. Billy hands me to the man and I am unsure of what will happen to me next. The man is so happy that he promises to save me for another time. We sleep. It's Thursday. I'm somewhere in dark, crumpled heap. I hear people walking and I'm cold. I feel defeated. I am defeated. He grabs me. What am I? I remember. I am a dollar bill. Where will I go today? For the majority of the day, I stay inside the homeless man's pocket, but there comes an even greater obsession. I am traded, with other bills, from the man's pocket, for some substances. These substances must have been worth it because as the man left me, he seemed increasingly energized. I am now in the hands of Richard, the drug dealer. On Friday, Richard and I go to the bank. I wonder if I will be put into savings, and that is exactly what happens. I am back at the bank, ready for another person to use. I think that it will be a long time before I begin a new adventure, however, Carla is starting her savings account and withdraws $50 dollars, 5 of those, in ones. I am in a pocket once more and the journey begins again.

Would You Rather....

Would You Rather…
have the power of invisibility OR flight

Pros of The Power of Invisibility

  • People can’t see you!!!
  • You can turn it off (I think), like choose when you want to be nosy ;)))
  • You can go anywhere and see whatever you want ;))), FOR FREEEEEE!! LIKE MOVIE SKIPPING!!! xD or FLYING AROUND THE WORLD!! I’d always be doing something fun. I’d go visible so I could take a picture, then go invisible again lol.
  • You can go to class and people can’t see when you look like a bum
  • You can totally creep people out like all of the time, like, “where’d they go???” or for Halloween, be spooky!!!
  • You can observe nature in its undisturbed state
  • You could replace Violet, from The Incredibles
  • You can do embarrassing things in public if you wanted
  • Your little siblings wouldn’t bother you
  • YOU’D FINALLY BE THE HIDE AND SEEK CHAMPION OF THE WORLD!!!!!!
Cons of the Power of Invisibility

  • People can’t see that awesome outfit you wore
  • You would probably make other people sad because they can’t be as cool as you

Pros of Flight

  • YOU CAN FLY ANYWHERE!!!!
  • Views from the top are always cooler. You’d have the best pictures.
  • You can look at birds migrating!! That’s like supa cool.
  • You can get away from any situations, like, “GOTTA BLAST!!” & then fly away all super cool.
  • You can observe situations from above and become Batman and save people
  • You can pretend to float and walk on clouds if you’re cool like that
  • You can creep out the people on planes and look in their windows or pretend you’re hanging off the wing of the plane (if you like giving people anxiety)
  • You can pretend that you’re the butterfly from Miley Cyrus’ song, and fly away... lol idk
  • You can skydive/bungee jump without the thought of something bad happening
Cons of Flight

  • You could get hit by a giant, migrating bird. Like, boom, that goose broke your nose, like Fabio...
  • You could get hit by a jet
  • You make people sad because they can’t fly like you can
  • You’d probably get tired of flying so much

There are many pros for having the power of invisibility and being able to fly. It is really hard to choose between the two, but if I had to choose one, I’D TOTALLY CHOOSE THE POWER OF INVISIBILITY. There are so many possibilities with that one, and not many valid cons. Who wouldn’t want to go everywhere for free??? You’re probably thinking, “Wow this girl is cheap.” You are right. You could also be thinking, “Wow, she’s kinda smart.” You would be right. Hahaha!! Although flying is really cool, I would be thankful every day to be invisible for a little bit; it would be so relaxing.

Would You Rather…
know when you’re going to die OR how you’re going to die

Pros of Knowing When You’re Going to Die

  • You live your life as best as possible, within the limit
  • You could find out that you will live a long life
  • You can inspire other people to never give up on their dreams
  • You work on your dreams and try to achieve them all
Cons of Knowing When You’re Going to Die

  • You are always thinking of the day you will die
  • You wonder how it’s going to happen
  • It might not be the time you want it to be
  • You feel like you won’t do enough in the time you were given
  • What if you do something reckless because “you’re living” and you die sooner than what you thought

Pros of Knowing How You’re Going to Die

  • You can try to prepare yourself for your death (give em hell, if it’s a bad way)
  • Idk if you can become so badass that you escape your death.... Plot twist!!!!
  • You may find that you will go peacefully, or naturally, which can put some people at ease
Cons of Knowing How You’re Going to Die

  • It might not be the way you want to die
  • You constantly think/stress about it

After much consideration, I want nothing to do with this “Would You Rather.” Death is too stressful to think about. I would rather live my life without knowing how or when I am going to die. Both choices have pros and cons that balance each other out, making it hard for me to choose. However, since we have to choose, I would rather know when I am going to die, to make sure that I can accomplish as much as possible, within my time. Maybe I will live a long life, but that is just a maybe. I still wonder if you can change your destiny if you know how you are going to die, so I’m not totally confident in my choice, but it’ll do. It would be totally badass to change your destiny, but I don’t know how God manages all of that. I trust in him, regardless.

You Know You're Tired When...

  • You are writing an essay and you start typing the words that you hear on the t.v. in the background
  • You are listening to the teacher teach and then you black out and wake up and it's a different subject
  • You put on your pants backwards because you don't want to turn on the light in the morning
  • You start laughing after you mispronounce a word, without really knowing you mispronounced the word until someone tells you
  • You feel your head falling forward or back while doing homework
  • You are listening to someone tell you something, but you don't remember them being there and talking to you
  • You leave your phone in the refrigerator
  • You say you're tired like 30 times every class and 10 billion times a day
