Ditch Your Laptop, Dump Your Boyfriend, Live in the Moment

Dear Incoming Freshmen,

Here’s the deal, high school is great. It really is!! Don’t let people tell you anything different! High school is like life, and life’s what you make it, so let’s make it rock. ;) When you go through four years at the same school, you realize that you have to make the most out of your time. You don’t want to be the person that just floats through classes and doesn’t do extra activities. Getting involved was one of the best things I ever did.
Whether it was joining a club or doing stats for the volleyball team, I had so much fun throughout my four years, so far!!! But I always wanted more, which is why I want you to consider joining a sport!! Only one thing keeps me from truly enjoying my high school experience. I wish I would have joined a sport. Softball is the name of the game. Ever since I was around 9, I dedicated myself to supporting the Los Angeles Dodgers, which would fuel my love of softball. I was never really athletic, so I never told my parents that I wanted to play, but I always had the desire. I just wanted to experience what the Dodgers did. I never joined softball, but I will always wish I did.
I just want to say, that if you have an inkling towards something, follow your heart!! It may pay off in the end, or maybe you will just enjoy the experiences you make. I hope you learn to try new things because it can never hurt. Live in the moment, because having regrets is not the business. Good luck, you’ll conquer high school.

Sincerely,
A Girl With One Regret.

Goals and Legacy

Legacy:
"Before I go, I want to bring school spirit back. Before I go, I want to inspire underclassmen. Before I go, I want to spread compassion and kindness. Before I go, I want to re-define the term, respect. Before I go, I want to leave knowing I've made a positive impact."

Goals:

1. Become more responsible with my time.
2. Finish with the best grades I've ever had.
3. Get my license.
4. Lose weight and keep it that way.
5. Become a better person in every possible way.

The Road So Far

*cue Carry On My Wayward Son song*

Legacy:
SO poetic. SO emotional. I loved this legacy when we created it. I still love it, but it is becoming less attainable. So far, school spirit is still lacking... underclassmen don't listen to "higher ups," making themselves look bad... compassion and kindness could be spread, but when you lack enthusiasm at school, nothing is spread except your lack of enthusiasm... redefining respect is hard, when people don't even respect themselves or the people around them... we could leave a positive impact by being the best that we can be, but who knows if the underclassmen will see us as "role models." I'm not sure if I see progress yet, with our legacy, but there's always tomorrow. Like I mentioned earlier, I still love the concepts and ideas behind our legacy, but we never truly know what is going to happen.

Goals:
1. Have I become more responsible with my time? Aha hahaha sure.
2. We haven't finished school yet, however, I was pretty happy with my first semester grades. :))) We're still in the third week of our second semester, so there is always room for improvement this semester. They probably won't be THE BEST GRADES I'VE EVER HAD, but I will settle for all A's and one B.
3. I haven't gotten my license, BUT I DID GET MY PERMIT, WHICH IS COOL if my mother would let me practice driving more often. Haha!!
4. I feel like this goal was too personal lol, but I have been going to the gym on the weekends which is nice because who goes to the gym on weekends??? Apparently, not a lot of people and I love it!!
5. Becoming a better person in every possible way is hard, now that I'm reflecting. I don't even think that I've progressed on this because I'm not a bad person in general... I could use some help on my time management skills, though. The balance between health, academics, and life is hard to maintain. No one person is perfect in any way, and we'll never be, but we can always improve some aspects, like health-wise and education-wise. I'm trying.
